
Chris grew up in Melbourne, Australia, pushing weights in his lounge room at 14. What started as a way to get stronger for football became a passion, and all that effort into training and nutrition had to go somewhere. In 2019 at 26 he stepped on the bodybuilding stage for the first time, expecting ego and vanity but finding the opposite, a community of people cheering each other on, just wanting to be their best. That moment changed everything.
Bodybuilding became more than training or nutrition. It became a routine and mindset that gave structure no matter what life threw at him, a place to always get a win, whether that was a personal best, a better session or simply showing up on a hard day. Having worked shift work, played competitive sport, travelled extensively and undergone multiple surgeries from genetic and workplace injuries, Chris knows firsthand how easily life gets in the way of health and fitness goals. But through every setback he has always believed there is something positive to take from adversity, you just have to be willing to find it.

Chris began personal training in 2014 while completing a Bachelor of Food & Nutrition, majoring in Exercise Science at Deakin University. From early on, he developed a strong passion for training and the ability to change how people look, feel, perform and improve their health through evidence-based training and nutrition.
What started as a passion for helping both athletes and everyday overweight or obese individuals improve their physiques, health and confidence soon grew into Chris Barnden Coaching, before expanding into Elite Physique Coaching with coaches Scott and Holly joining the team.
Since 2017, the team has worked extensively with competitive bodybuilders from first-time competitors through to elite-level athletes. In 2025 alone, Elite Physique Coaching achieved record results including 34 first place medals, 8 overall titles and 2 Pro Cards.
Today, the team continues to focus on evidence-based coaching. This is based off training, nutrition and your biofeedback data to deliver the most efficient and effective individualised plans, helping you get the results you want faster than anyone else in the industry.
